HOW TO MAKE FRESH FLOWERS WREATH CAKE
Instructions and links to piping tips
Hi guys! In this article, we will show you how to create a very simple, yet bright, summery, and impressive decoration. The cake here is a "Milk Girl" cake, and we have shared its recipe in this article.
The frosting used is classic cream cheese frosting, though you can also use buttercream.

Let's Start Decorating

  • We always cover the cake with an uncolored frosting first. For this design, we decided to use a beautiful sky blue color for the final layer.
  • We won't be adding titanium dioxide to whiten the frosting, but we need to neutralize the yellowish tint. So, we add a small amount of a color called Very Peri, which was Pantone's color of the year 2022. The purple pigment will neutralize the yellow tint.
  • Whip the frosting to evenly distribute the color.
Adding Blue Color

  • For more vibrancy, add a drop of Electric Blue color. Whip the frosting again.
  • After whipping, smooth the frosting with a spatula to remove any air bubbles. This is crucial when working with cream cheese and also buttercream frostings.
For this decoration, you can also use buttercream or chocolate cream cheese frosting.
You can find mini-courses with recipes for different frostings on our school’s website.

  • The cake is covered with frosting. Now let's move on.
  • The decoration chosen is very simple, suitable even for beginners. Start decorating right after smoothing the frosting before it sets.

Creating the Spiral

  • Using a small palette knife, create a spiral on the top of the cake. Hold the palette knife like a pen, pressing the tip in the center of the cake, and move your hand towards the edge while rotating the cake stand with the other hand. Do the same on the sides of the cake.
Piping Tips

The piping tips we used in this decoration.
Piping the Waves

  • Insert the piping tip into a piping bag and fill it with frosting. Push the frosting down and twist the bag tightly.
  • Using the smaller star tip, pipe waves around the bottom of the cake. This is not a royal Lambeth decoration, so you can work quickly without worrying too much about precision since the waves will be decorated with flowers later.
  • Take more frosting from the fridge, fill a bag with the larger tip, and pipe a thick spiral. Hold the bag with both hands and pipe in 3-turn sections, turning the cake stand as you go.
  • This design is quite rustic, so small imperfections are fine. You can cover any imperfections with flowers later.

This design is perfect for practicing piping waves, ruffles, spirals, and working with different piping tips.
Our cake is 16 cm (6 inches) diameter and 10 cm (4 inches) height.
Final Decoration

  • We'll use edible fresh flowers. I bought pink and white begonias and violas from a green farm that grows edible flowers and microgreens. These flowers are edible and completely safe. Store them in a closed container on a damp paper in the refrigerator. They last up to 10 days.

  • We also used chrysanthemums from a regular flower shop. Always wrap the stems of store-bought flowers to ensure safety.

  • We made this cake quickly to show you the decoration. We had only 15 minutes between orders. After decorating, we removed all the frosting ruffles before eating the cake.
Here we used pink and white begonias and violas. These are edible and completely safe flowers.
As I mentioned, begonias and violas are completely edible, so you can simply place them on the cake using tweezers. I really love the current trend for such decorations. They are beautiful, striking, and very quick and easy to make.

For a finishing touch, we added small daisies. We intentionally left their stems a bit longer and placed them slightly elevated to give more airiness and volume to our cake decoration. Isn't it beautiful?
